MS Analysis

At CellMosaic, we analyze molecules using Electrospray Ionization (ESI) Mass Spectrometry and Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time-of-Flight (MALDI-TOF) Mass Spectrometry. We offer high-quality MS analysis services at competitive rates for a wide range of analytes, including small molecules, peptides, oligonucleotides, proteins, antibodies, and their bioconjugates. These services are available both as part of our custom bioconjugation workflows and for products generated using our Personalized Conjugation Kit (PerKit™). If you have used a PerKit™ and would like analysis of your final product, please contact us for a quote.

Electrospray ionization (ESI) is a soft ionization technique that generates ions by transferring charged species from solution-phase droplets into the gas phase. Compared to traditional electron or chemical ionization methods, ESI uses lower energy and is less destructive, making it especially suitable for fragile biomolecules such as peptides, proteins, nucleotides, and carbohydrates. Samples can be analyzed either by direct infusion—where the solution is introduced directly into the mass spectrometer—or via liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS), where components of a mixture are first separated before MS analysis.

MALDI is a laser-based soft ionization method in which the sample is co-crystallized with a matrix. Upon laser irradiation, the matrix absorbs energy and facilitates the ionization and desorption of the analyte into the gas phase. MALDI-TOF provides high sensitivity while requiring only small sample quantities, making it particularly well suited for the analysis of biomolecules.
