Immobilization Kits

Biopolymers and small molecules immobilized on solid support are important reagent-tools for biotech research. An antigen immobilized on a solid support, such as agarose bead, magnetic bead, or polymer bead is often used as affinity purification media. Immobilized antigen can also be used as a capture tool for protein/marker identification in drug discovery or as a diagnostic reagent in immunoassay. The development of techniques and methods for immobilization is essential for many biotechnological advancements.

Two types of solid supports are being developed at CellMosaic:

  • Conventional hydrophilic agarose beads functionalized with cyanate esters or imidocarbonates (CNBr activated), amino, carboxylic acid, glyoxy, glutaldehyde, aminooxy, pyridyl disulfide, maleimide, or epoxide for the convenience of immobilization using the customer’s own compound
  • Novel hydrophilic AqT™ coated beads.

Three things are essential for a successful immobilization kit:

  • The quality and stability of the functionalized beads - CellMosaic has tailored the loading capacity and stability of the agarose beads for each application.
  • Chemistry design - CellMosaic’s kit comes with pre-made buffers with simple easy to follow direction.
  • Immobilization workflow - We have developed a universal workflow and kit design that allows immobilization, washing of unreacted starting materials, and column packing all in one column with a simple set-up in any lab. The immobilization efficiency in the column is the same as if performed in a regular reaction vessel. The washing is performed with a simple manual air push mechanism using a syringe and requires no gas/air flow or vacuum. For more information, please click here.
